Dear yogis,
I am beyond excited to share some exciting news! Over a year of gestation, searching for location and months of lease negotiations I have landed a beautiful space for yoga and healing arts. Centrally located in Garden City in Live Work Create district, this space will provide ample room for classes, workshops and events for our community!
About the name…
Ananda is a sanskrit word that means eternal bliss or happiness. It is beyond the fluctuations of emotions that we experience in everyday life. Ananda is our true nature, our soul, pure consciousness that radiates from within. Ananda is one of the most sacred words and facets of yoga. And, it is my daughter’s middle name!
Yoga is a practice that cleanses the body and mind to allow this light to shine free and clear. Space is where all vibration travels offering infinite possibilities of connection and alignment.
Ananda Yoga Space is a high-vibe practice space to clear the mind, feel your body, and connect with your soul.
Why?
Since I did my first yoga teacher training (2007) I have wanted to open a yoga studio. Back then, Boise certainly needed one that offered contemporary styles. A group of us met often to discuss ideas and start the process of opening a yoga studio. That group included myself and Marisa “Radha” Weppner and Heather Earl. Marisa and Heather made it happen and opened Sage! I was eight months pregnant at the time so I knew I was not committing to much else than motherhood. Sage became home to myself and so many teachers and students in the valley. Our community - albeit much smaller then - didn’t need something more. Sage was next to perfect. It never even crossed my mind to open a studio during those ten years. It wasn’t needed.
The pandemic left so much loss and grief in its wake, including the end of Sage. It was devastating to us all. So many of us suddenly displaced (yogically, if that’s a word). Some stopped practicing altogether, some went online, some waited it out and found a new practice space.
By the time 2022 rolled around, I finished my second degree in Sociology - which I funny enough did entirely during the pandemic. It provided a good distraction. And I listlessly took on the role of managing our taco truck/boat at the Yardarm due to the lack of workers in the industry. After going back to university, it was clear to me that I did not want to work for anyone else, and didn’t want to be part of any formal institution. Although necessary at the time and necessary for the survival of a family operation -managing a food truck has been enough of a misalignment for my soul to keep me wanting something different.
Desire is the fuel for manifestation.
“On the physical, as on the intellectual and spiritual plane, all creation, all invention, all imagination is the fruit of desire” - Madhavacharya
It became undeniably clear to me that my heart and soul is in yoga; that we are missing a yoga place that feels like home, a true refuge in the city; and I wanted to create a space.
Ananda Yoga Space is a practice space in which the thread of yoga is not lost in the creative expression of modern day yogis. Here people feel connected, are inspired, and take refuge from the distractions and many demands of everyday life.
With roughly 2700 square feet of studio space, it provides ample room not just for weekly classes, but also large events such as live music with yoga classes, ecstatic dance, other community events and will be available to rent for private events.
Offerings will range from invigorating vinyasa flow, slow flow, beginners, breathwork, kundalini inspired vinyasa, ecstatic dance and monthly live music + yoga events.
Currently building a team of amazing skilled teachers who are committed to yoga and transformational practices.
The space will be a sanctuary. Spacious, light and bright. A reflection of ananda (soul body), and light of consciousness that is innate in all of us.
The location is central, easy to get to, with parking and right in the center of the ever expanding and lively Live Work Create district of Garden City.
